- After he married his wife, they went to live in The Old Manse in Concord, then left. They returned again to Concord and lived in The Wayside.
- He had three children

- He was originally born with the name Hathorne, but he added the W in later years.
- He met Abraham Lincoln and has a short story published about it
- The House of Seven Gables (Hawthorne's book) is an actual house in Salem.
